Emdeon and General Atlantic:  Reinventing Healthcare Transaction Services

In 2006, General Atlantic acquired a majority ownership interest in Emdeon (NYSE: EM), a leading provider of revenue and payment cycle management solutions, connecting healthcare payers, providers and patients. 

With GA's assistance, Emdeon has completed strategic acquisitions, expanded its Board of Directors and management team, and extended its core product and service offering.  The company continues to shape and revolutionize the efficient exchange of financial information between healthcare constituents, enabling the healthcare system to operate more efficiently.

In 2009, Emdeon completed an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, achieving a market capitalization of $1.8 billion.
