RiskMetrics Group and General Atlantic: Building a Leader in Financial Risk Management
Initially a division of JP Morgan, RiskMetrics Group was spun out as an independent provider of risk management products and services in 1998. Six years later, GA invested as a minority shareholder, helping the company to expand its presence as a trusted advisor to the financial community.
With GA's assistance, RiskMetrics Group has extended its platform through the acquisitions of Institutional Shareholder Services and the Center for Financial Research and Analysis. In January of 2008, RiskMetrics Group completed an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange, reaching a market capitalization of $1 billion.
