NYSE Euronext and General Atlantic:  Creating a Global Exchange

GA saw the beginning of the electronic revolution of financial exchanges when we invested in Archipelago in November 2003 to help position and prepare it for an IPO.

The NYSE merger with Archipelago in March 2006 transformed the NYSE Group into a public company, and its merger with Euronext in April 2007 created the largest and most liquid equity exchange in the world in NYSE Euronext. Through continued innovation, acquisitions and growth, NYSE Euronext has remained at the forefront of global financial markets. GA sold its position in 2009.
