General Atlantic has been an industry leader in investing globally in business services companies for nearly three decades. The Business Services sector consists of companies focusing on business services, outsourced processing services, infrastructure, software and technology. GA has long been active in pursuing consolidation opportunities in the software and technology sector, and recently made its first investment in the infrastructure sector. GA was also early to recognize the trend for Fortune 500 and middle market companies to outsource non-core processes in order to increasingly focus on their core competencies and to achieve competitive advantage through cost management. Due to our extensive global presence, GA has also been at the leading edge of the trend to "rightshore" business processes assisting portfolio companies with these efforts.

Since our first business services investment in 1983, GA has invested over $4 billion in nearly 100 companies including startups and multi-billion dollar businesses in the Business Services sector globally. GA has invested more capital in the process outsourcing area than any other private growth equity firm.
