Chris Lanning is a Managing Director and General Counsel of General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm. He joined the firm in 2000 and is based in New York. Mr. Lanning works primarily on structuring leveraged financings, equity investments and liquidity transactions.

Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Lanning was a Senior Associate on the Corporate Finance team of the Virginia based law firm of Hunton & Williams where he specialized in private equity and merger & acquisition transactions. Prior to his affiliation with Hunton & Williams, Mr. Lanning served as an associate on the Corporate team at the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Mr. Lanning holds a BA with High Distinction in History from The University of Virginia, and a JD from The University of Virginia School of Law.
