Graves Tompkins is a Managing Director and Global Head of Capital Partnering at General Atlantic, based in the firm’s New York office. Graves chairs the firm’s Capital Committee and serves on the Human Resources Committee. He has worked on GA’s Business Services, Healthcare, and Financial Services sector teams, and he currently serves as a member of the board of directors for Oak Hill Advisors.
Prior to joining GA, Graves worked in the merchant banking division at Goldman Sachs & Co., where he focused on principal investments across a broad range of sectors, and at McKinsey & Company.
Graves serves on the board of WNET (New York Public Television), the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, Summer Search New York and the investment committee of the New York Public Library. He is the founding co-chair of the Alumni Council at Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership and a board member of the Harvard Business School Club of New York. Graves is a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum and a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and he was previously a David Rockefeller Fellow through the NYC Partnership.
Graves graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. from Princeton University. He earned an M.B.A. with high honors from Harvard Business School and an M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
