Pierre Samec

Operating Partner

Pierre Samec is an Operating Partner and part of General Atlantic’s Resources Group, providing strategic support and advice to the firm’s EMEA investment team and portfolio companies with a focus on technology and digital transformation. He has been closely involved in helping to drive strategic growth initiatives at the firm’s portfolio companies including Argus Media, ControlExpert, Flixbus, Hyperion, MeteoGroup, and Network International.

Before joining General Atlantic in 2014 Pierre was Chief Technology Officer at TriZetto Corporation, leading the upgrade of the company’s healthcare payer suite to support the Accountable Care Act. Prior to that, Pierre was Chief Technology Officer at Expedia, Inc., beginning in 2006 when he led the rebuilding of the company’s core software and infrastructure. He also led technology for Business Objects and Cartesis in Europe from 2002 to 2006, delivering major enterprise releases prior to the rollup of those companies into SAP. Pierre began his career in Silicon Valley as an entrepreneur by founding PetroVision Inc., a petroleum engineering consultancy. He participated actively in the emergence of Internet technologies as Senior Vice President of Retail Technologies at Charles Schwab and as Chief Information Officer of Chemdex.com from 1998 to 2000.

Pierre earned a General Engineering Degree from Ecole des Mines de Paris, France and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geophysics from Stanford University.
