Justin Lindsey Joins General Atlantic as Operating Partner

General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity firm, announced today that Justin Lindsey, former Chief Analytics Officer of BAMTECH Media, has joined the firm as an Operating Partner. Mr. Lindsey will be part of General Atlantic’s Resources Group, providing expertise and strategic counsel to the firm’s investment teams and portfolio companies. As a data scientist and AI/machine-learning expert, Mr. Lindsey will identify opportunities at General Atlantic’s portfolio companies to leverage data and analytics in order to help drive revenue growth and operational improvements. He will be based in the firm’s New York office.

Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Lindsey served as Chief Analytics Officer of BAMTECH Media, a technology subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. In this role, he was responsible for leading a team of engineers and data scientists who built next generation analytics capabilities to support the company’s portfolio of direct-to-consumer video services globally.

Before BAMTECH Media, Mr. Lindsey held a number of high-level positions in the data sciences and analytics space, including Head of Strategic Development for Research of Bridgewater Associates and Chief Technology Officer of Netezza, which was acquired by IBM in 2010 after going public in 2007. While at Netezza, his team designed and created a leading parallel analytics platform for advanced big data analytics. Prior to that, Mr. Lindsey served as Chief Technology Officer for the FBI, where he helped enhance the agency’s technology and analytic capabilities following the events of September 11th. He then served as Chief Technology Officer for the U.S. Department of Justice, where he was responsible for driving technology strategy, architecting mission capability, and directing funds towards technology investments to ensure alignment with the Department’s objectives. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lindsey led Hewlett Packard’s Advanced Solution Lab.

Mr. Lindsey holds an M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, an S.B. in Computer Science and Engineering, and an M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
