Matt Nimetz is an Advisory Director at General Atlantic, having served as Chief Operating Officer for twelve years. Prior to that, Matt was a partner and former chair at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, and served as leading outside counsel for General Atlantic.

Matt Nimetz is an Advisory Director at General Atlantic, having served as Chief Operating Officer for twelve years. Prior to that, Matt was a partner and former chair at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, and served as leading outside counsel for General Atlantic.

Matt has held a number of governmental positions, including Under Secretary of State, Counselor of the State Department, and President Clinton’s Special Envoy mediating between Greece and Republic of Macedonia, and the Personal Envoy of the U.N. Secretary-General to continue that mediation. In 2018, the two parties signed an agreement resolving their dispute.

Matt’s previous positions include Staff Assistant to President Lyndon Johnson, law clerk to Supreme Court Justice John Harlan, and Commissioner of the NY Port Authority and other public boards.
