Martin Escobari

Managing Director and Head of Latin America

Martín Escobari is a Managing Director and Head of General Atlantic’s business in Latin America. Martín is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and serves as Co-Chairman of its Investment Committee and Human Resources Committee. Martin is a board member of XP Investimentos, Ourofino, Pague Menos, and Sanfer.

Before joining General Atlantic in 2012, Martín was a Managing Director at Advent International, where he focused on the financial services sector. Prior to that, he was Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of Submarino.com, a leading Brazilian online retailer that went public on the Bovespa and was sold to Lojas Americanas in 2006. Martin started his career as a Management Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.

Martin graduated with high honors with a B.A. in economics from Harvard College and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, graduating as a Baker Scholar. He serves on the board of Primeira Chance, a scholarship program for gifted children in Brazil and is active with Endeavor Brazil, where he mentors young entrepreneurs. Martin is also a member of the Advisory Group for the Brazil office of Harvard´s Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, and is a mentor for Endeavor.
