About the Company

General Atlantic Middle East Financial Company (the “Company” or “GA MEF“) is established under the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with CR number: 1009182786 dated 23 January 2025 and Unified CR number 703614142, holding MISA license number: 102114605338985. The Company obtained its in-principle-approval (“IPA”) with number 24294-10 from the Capital Market Authority (“CMA“) on 8 October 2024  to conduct Arranging in Securities for its principal activity arranging (new) investments for General Atlantic’s Funds that are operated and managed offshore. Currently, the Company is awaiting the final approval from the CMA and will commence its full operations immediately thereafter.

The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Atlantic Service Company, L.P., that is established under the laws of Delaware and is registered as an investment advisor with the US Securities and Commission. GA MEF does not have any branches.

The Company has a paid-up capital of SAR 6,000,000.

Organizational Structure

Board of Managers

Gabriel Caillaux
Chairman and Member of the Board of Managers

Gabriel Caillaux is Head of Climate, Co-President, Managing Director and Head of General Atlantic’s business in EMEA and is the Chairman of the Company’s Board of Managers. In addition, he is a member of the GA’s Executive and Portfolio Committees, in addition to the Global Growth Equity and BeyondNetZero Investment Committees. Since joining the firm in 2004, Gabriel has helped expand the General Atlantic’s investment focus across the greater European region to include Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He focuses on investments in the Financial Services and Technology sectors. Before joining General Atlantic, Gabriel worked in the telecoms, media & technology division at Merrill Lynch in London and New York.

Mr. Caillaux obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Finance from the ESCP-EAP European School of Management.


Samir Assaf
Member of the Board of Managers

Samir Assaf is a Senior Advisor and Chairman of MENA at General Atlantic and is a member of the Company’s Board of Managers. Samir provides strategic support and advice to General Atlantic’s investment teams and portfolio companies across the Middle East and Northern Africa. Samir has extensive global financial services experience, having spent nearly three decades in leadership roles at HSBC, including his current roles of Chairman of the Board, MENAT, HSBC Middle East Holdings, and as an advisor to the Group Chairman and Group CEO. Samir was formerly CEO of HSBC Global Banking & Markets and Chairman of Corporate and Institutional Banking.

Samir obtained its B.S. in Finance at the L’Institut d ‘Etudes Politiques, his M.S. in Economics from the Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth and an MBA in Economics and International Finance from La Sorbonne University.


Ziyad Baeshen
Member of the Board of Managers, CEO and Head of Arranging

Ziyad Baeshen is the Company’s CEO, Head of Arranging and is a member of the Board of Managers. He focuses on General Atlantic’s investments across MENA. Before joining General Atlantic in 2022, Ziyad worked at Raine. Prior to that, Ziyad was an Associate at the Public Investment Fund. Ziyad started his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Citigroup.

Ziyad graduated from McGill University with a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering and earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Complaints

Any complaints must be in writing to the Company’s Compliance department at #[email protected]. Upon receipt, the Company will send a confirmation to the complainer (or “you”), that the complaint has been received and will send the procedures on assessing the complaint.

  • Reason(s) of the complaint (stating relevant dates and times, if applicable);

The Company will assess a complaint independently and impartially, without undue delay. We aim to resolve complaints as quickly as possible and will ensure that complainants will be informed on the process.
