Eric Zhang, Managing Director and Head of China at General Atlantic, was named “Influential PE Investor of the Year 2019,” and General Atlantic was named “Influential PE Investment Firm of the Year 2019” by China Renaissance. China Renaissance, a leading Chinese financial advisor, selects these annual awards to honor the year’s most impressive investment professionals and private equity firms in China.

For the Influential PE Investor award, finalists must be focused on growth equity investments, have a strong deal track record and influence in the private equity industry, have been with their current firm as a Partner or Managing Director for five years, and have invested in more than two deals with >$50m check size and >$1.5b current valuation in the past three years (or exited more than two deals with >$50m check size and an IRR of over 20% in the past three years, or invested in more than one deal with >$50m check size and valuation below $1.5b last year and above $3b now in the past five years). The finalist rankings are based on the number of deals invested and number of deals exited in the past three years.

For the Influential PE Investment Firm award, finalists must have a reputable brand that is active in the market, at least five investments with >$50m check size and at least three with >$1.5b current valuation in the past three years (or at least 10 deal exits with >$50m check size, and at least three with an IRR of over 20% in the past three years, or at least two investments with >$50m check size and valuation below $1.5b last year and above $3b now, in the past five years). The finalist rankings are based on funds or capital raised in the past four years; the number of investments in the past three years; IRR of current portfolio in the past three years; total AUM, capital available to invest, gross IRR and DPI; the number of divestments; and their IRR in the past three years.
