General Atlantic portfolio companies Anthropic and Runway have been named to CNBC’s 2026 Disruptor 50 list, an annual recognition of private companies harnessing breakthrough technologies to address today’s most pressing economic and consumer challenges.Â
Now in its fourteenth year, the Disruptor 50 spotlights the companies demonstrating resilience and forward momentum amid an evolving market landscape and the accelerating pace of technological change. Spanning industries from artificial intelligence to healthcare and autonomous transportation, this year’s honorees reflect the breadth of innovation reshaping the global economy.
Anthropic, a leading AI research and company building interpretable AI systems, and Runway, a pioneer in generative AI tools for creators, were among the 50 companies recognized for their role in advancing innovation and shaping the future of their respective industries.
CNBC’s editorial team and advisory boards curated this year’s list by reviewing nominations submitted through an application process, evaluating each company against a mix of quantitative and qualitative criteria. To be eligible, companies were privately held, independently owned, and founded after January 1, 2010, with selections emphasizing scalability, user growth, and disruptive potential.
