General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity firm, announced today that Preston McKenzie, former CEO of Newscycle Solutions, and Eric Spiegel, former President and CEO of Siemens USA, have joined General Atlantic as special advisors.

General Atlantic’s team of special advisors is comprised of a global group of seasoned industry leaders and former CEOs who offer decades of experience and expansive networks to support the growth initiatives of the firm’s portfolio companies. As part of General Atlantic’s Global Growth AccelerationTM approach, the firm’s special advisors help to deliver strategic, practical, and impactful support focused in the areas of revenue generation, operational excellence, human capital, and capital markets.

With decades of experience working in various leadership roles at a number of leading technology and software companies, Mr. McKenzie will work closely with General Atlantic’s Internet & Technology investment team and portfolio companies, leveraging his experience in operations, sales, and business development. He has joined the board of Insurity, a General Atlantic portfolio company and a leading provider of software, data, and analytics solutions to the insurance industry.

Mr. Spiegel, who most recently served as President and CEO of Siemens USA, will be a senior resource to all of General Atlantic’s sector investment teams and portfolio companies, advising on industry trends and growth strategies. He has also been named chairman of the board of General Atlantic portfolio company CLEAResult, a leading provider of energy efficiency and demand management services, and will join the board of EN Engineering, a leading provider of engineering, consulting, and automation services to energy and industrial companies.

Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Spiegel served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Siemens USA from 2010 to 2016 and was responsible for growing the U.S. business into the company’s largest market. He has significant experience in technology and business services within the energy, power, water, manufacturing, mobility, automotive, and healthcare sectors. Mr. Spiegel joined Siemens USA after 25 years of global consulting experience at Booz & Company, Inc. and Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., most recently as Managing Partner of the firm’s Global Energy, Chemicals, and Power consulting practices, where he also led the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Spiegel holds an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University.

Mr. McKenzie was most recently CEO of Newscycle Solutions from 2013 until 2017, and beforehand served as CEO of MicroEdge, LLC. He has over 20 years of experience leading business development, operations, and sales within the technology sector. Earlier in his career, Mr. McKenzie worked at Thomson Reuters, where he served in a variety of management roles. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of North Carolina.
